Iceland has been voted favourite European country to visit, by The Guardian Unlimited Travel Awards 2005. Iceland was traditionally expensive for visitors whereas the country now attracts a modest 150,000 people per year. Iceland’s capital Reykjavik has recently exploded into the hipster consciousness as one of the coolest destinations in the world, making it The Guardian Travel Awards number one destination in Europe.
